Australian remote monitoring solution scales to the U.S.

Farmbot Monitoring Solutions (Farmbot) is an Australian leader in remote monitoring solutions, focussed on providing farmers with 24/7 visibility over their water and other on-farm assets.

Farmbot’s range of sensors and the easy-to-use platform, MyFarmbot, provides users with near real-time SMS, email alerts and reporting of water levels and trends – revolutionising the way farmers plan their days and manage their water assets by giving them the information needed to make better informed decisions anytime, anywhere.

In a period of considerable growth, Farmbot’s team has tripled in size over the past two years, currently employing a team of 45 – led by Co-Founder & CEO Andrew Coppin.  Across Australia, Farmbot serves more than 3,500 customers – and continues to scale in order to support its growth plans.

In assessing commercial opportunities in overseas markets, Farmbot engaged FD Global Connections to conduct a scalability audit with regards to their readiness to expand into the U.S.  As part of this this assessment, FD Global conducted an extensive review of Farmbot’s market readiness – reviewing their organisational structure, leadership team, current market traction, in-market recruitment, intellectual property milestones and distribution channels.

As part of FD Global Connections’s bespoke advisory service and specialist knowledge of scaling in the U.S. – FD Global provided Farmbot with direct introductions to relevant U.S. specialists including tax advisors, trademark and distribution partners.

A trusted partner to navigate U.S. expansion

Andrew Coppin, Farmbot’s Co-Founder & CEO cited the importance of having a trusted partner to navigate the complexities of the U.S. market:

“The U.S. is one large market comprising of many micro markets.  FD Global helped us to check our blind spots and document a pathway forward.”

“Trena Blair (FD Global’s CEO) was instrumental in connecting us with potential partners that are highly-experienced in local laws, taxes, recruitment, distribution, marketing and customer support.  Having someone with in-depth experience of both our home market and the U.S. has provided us with confidence and clarity moving forward.”

Farmbot takes on U.S. persona

In scaling Farmbot’s monitoring solutions to the U.S. – Farmbot have repositioned their brand as ‘Ranchbot’.  They’ve recently established a manufacturing centre established in Texas and will spend the next six months focussed on completing additional market research and sourcing channel partners in aid of distribution.  In 2023, Farmbot will commence their Series B capital raise and launch at the NCBA CattleCon Convention held in New Orleans in February.
